In an effort to identify potential opportunities to reduce The Bahamas'
dependence on fossil fuels, the Government of the Commonwealth of
The Bahamas has entered into agreements with the Inter-American
Development Bank (IDB) to develop and implement projects designed
to provide technical assistance to assess the national energy sector
(Project BH-T1012: Strengthening the Energy Sector in The Bahamas),
and to determine the potential of the country's renewable energy
resources and promote sustainable energy (Project BH-T1016: Promoting
Sustainable Energy in The Bahamas).
During the latter half of 2008, requests for expressions of interest to undertake these projects were made both locally and internationally. The submittals were evaluated, and firms short-listed for Projects BH-T1012 and BH-T1016.
The short-listed firms are currently in the process of developing detailed proposals for executing the projects. Any local firm wishing to explore possible opportunities to participate in either project is free to contact the short-listed firms directly. (Please use the above links for the contact details.)
